It's a great opportunity and privilege for me to be chosen as the new Volunteer Coordinator for ACAS. I started doing volunteer for ACAS years ago under the Support Program as a "buddy" with Len Lopez as my coordinator. I have learned a lot through these experiences and enhanced my knowledge and skills. I have also encountered and challenges which have given me different a perspective of my volunteer experience. Being a volunteer myself, I know how rewarding it is to help someone and to feel that I'm a part of the agency. I know I can do the work given to me and I have the support of my coordinator. I believe that ACAS as an agency and an active part of Asian communities will strive its best to meet its goals and objectives to not only improve its volunteer program but to be able to reach out to other clients and communities through our volunteers. Our volunteers are integral part of ACAS. As a whole, I am excited to initiate some projects that will put the volunteer program back on its feet. I know I am very new in this position but with my experiences I hope I can bring new ideas and opportunities. I trust with the support and cooperation from the Board, staff and volunteers, I'll be able to provide ACAS and our volunteers the training and support they need and to encourage and recruit new volunteers. I thank the Board, Keith and the staff for giving me this chance to be part of ACAS. |
