Hosted by SLAM, the ACAS Men’s Program for gay, bi, queer Asian cis and trans men

Grab your favourite microwave popcorn and join us for our first online Asian Movie Night!

We’ll be watching Dear Ex, a Taiwanese comedy/drama with the ultra-rare happy gay movie ending. A quick synopsis from Netflix:

“When Sanlian’s ex-husband passes away, she discovers he has altered his insurance policy, cutting out their son in favor of a stranger named Jay. Outraged, Sanlian decides that she and her son will confront Jay, but Jay proves equal to her scheme. However, when her son unexpectedly moves in with Jay, she is forced to reassess her relationship with them both.”

The dialogue is in Mandarin Chinese and we’ll be watching with English subtitles.

We’ll be hosting the movie on a free platform called Kast. To join the stream, all you’ll need to do is:

1. Open Google Chrome (It will not work with Firefox)

2. Install the Kast web extension
(https://kast.gg/download.html) – middle option

3. Register your email to make an account with Kast
(https://w.kastapp.live/)

4. Email Zack at gaap@acas.org and we will send a link on the day of the screening (April 28)

There’s a web chat feature that we can use throughout the movie and we’ll be sticking around for a bit afterwards to talk about it too, at which point whoever’s interested can join us in testing out Kast’s video chat feature! If you’d rather just watch for a bit you’re welcome to come and go as you please.

Screening starts at 7pm on Tuesday April 28th!
